Track Listing:
1. Accursed Share
2. At Empire's End
3. Lost Life

"Our sound can be described as a riff heavy doom-laden blend of black metal and really fucking pissed off hardcore, with a tendency from time to time to drop tempo into slower paced death metal.  We hail from Brooklyn NY and all grew up in and around the NYHC scene playing in bands and going to shows.  While our sound is as metal as it comes, we carry our selves like the hardcore bands we grew up digging, that is DIY and pissed as fuck!  FFO:  craft, converge, hooded menace, vastum, mamothgrinder, deathwish bands, etc"

Bubbles- Randoms (2006-2009)

Bubbles
2006-2009
Death/Grind

This 5 piece wrecking crew is easily one of the heaviest and yet least talked about bands from NJ over the last couple of years. One of my old bands had the pleasure of sharing the stage with them a few times as well as with their partners in crime 'The Kodiak Bear Regiment' back in either 2006 or 2007. Who the fuck knows, that was a hell of a time.. Anyway, its been said that Bubbles released a self titled full length sometime aound 2009 or so, just before the band met its final demise. If anyone has that record or any other mp3's from them I'd be greatly appreciative. These tracks are simply the 6 songs available on their myspace page and do not fit into any one demo, EP, split, full length etc.. but are definitely worth the download.

1. Bloodeagle (from... unknown)
2. Creation (from... split with Kodiak Bear Regiment)
3. The Intestinal Decorator (from... unknown)
4. Peeling Skin Back (from... demo 2006)
5. Shattered Remains (from... demo 2006)
6. Stay Strong (from... split with Kodiak Bear Regiment)

An Extraterrestrial Death Metal Bonanza!

Ah, death metal is such a fascinating genre. Most bands tend to grab hold of a theme firmly by the throat and refuse to let go.. no matter how beaten and repetitive it ultimately gets. The recent "space" theme has been running rampant among some bands right now and thats cool with me. The noodle crazy acts like Wormed or The Contortionist are making waves by casting wicked spells upon their poor instruments and some bands have even focused in a little deeper on their own vision of what spacey death metal should be and wrote entire albums based on the visitors and inhabitants that may or may not be lurking in the dark and vast outer realms that exist in all corners of our massive and mysterious universe. So this post is dedicated to them. I, Munk, am absolutely obsessed with both the potential creatures of unknown origins as well as of course some kick ass death metal, so a post like this just seemed like a no brainer.

Xenomorph
Empyreal Regimes (1995)

Next to the 'grays' which believe me we will get into soon enough, there is no other ALIEN that has made more of an impact on pop culture than the Xenomorph. Yes, this band not only embraced this famously deadly creatures name but also its image for their sole album cover. Xenomorph formed in 1990 in Omaha Nebraska with members that would soon end up in Diabolical Possession, Angelcorpse and Immolation. They only released one demo before 'Empyreal Regimes' which is their only full length. Fans of quick, punishing old school death metal should dig the sound here, and I bet that even Sigourney Weaver owns a copy of this now rare piece of obscure death metal history ;)

Hypocrisy
The Arrival (2004)

Hypocrisy is a band that has gone through many musical evolutions through their many active years. In my opinion they've solidified themselves as the metal act most associated with aliens. I could have chosen any one of their ET and interdimensional themed albums to write about but I chose 'The Arrival' for a 2 reasons.. Number 1, this is the first Hypocrisy record I owned, so deal with it. And number 2, the cover is just simply bad ass and fits with my theme perfectly. Three grays venturing out of their craft ready to dissect and prod some unsuspecting humans.. or cattle, we're not really sure. Either way it is this imagry that ultimately drove me to this album. While venturing deeper into their vast catalogue of releases through the years I've learned that I definitely enjoy the earlier, more aggressive approach to death metal that they once had in the early 90's, but this record will always have a warm spot in my geeky heart.

Andromophus Rexalia
Cosmic Collison Into The Fifth Dimension (2010)

This album is a twisted look into the potentially evil side of visitors from another world. Filled with ominous and bizarre samples, inhuman vocals and blisteringly fast drum and guitar work. This is technical death metal from another planet overseasoned with a heavy hand of brutal grindcore. I chose this album for obvious reasons, it seems like the grays from the before mentioned Hypocrisy album cover have found their next subject. He appears to be a business man trapped in some sort of a tractor beam and it is inevitable that he will soon end up on the craft seen at the very top of the albums cover. note that a priest is also held captive but I think the visitors infact have another fate in mind for this poor servant of the cloth. The music displayed here makes the listener feel as if he is that priest, injured both physically and mentally, pinned down against his will, and soon subject to an absolute beating.

Devouring Doom
Them (2010)

Devouring Doom is a 2 man experimental death metal project from Barcelona Spain. I havent been able to read the lyrics or even hold an actual copy of this demo but my buddy over at DeathMetalInvasion posted this a while back and sums it up much better than I can...

"Devouring Doom makes us think about the universe and the beings that possible live in it. It also talks about the destiny of humanity and how humans are destroying the Earth. Devouring Doom takes you deep in the human's soul and reflects us the worst humanity sins. In that way, we are doomed to oblivion."

Sounds pretty deep to me, you can check out this free release here.

Rings Of Saturn
Embryonic Anomaly (2010)

If there is one band on this list that may actually be from another planet it would be Rings Of Saturn without a doubt. These kids play an unbelievably punishing technical style of death metal that is definitely not native to this Earth. The lyrical content is ripe with that of alien invasions, various themes pertaining to outer space and the coming destruction of our planet at the hands of another species. And shit, the cover art is fucking cool too, focusing more on the interbreeding and genetically altering aspects of these alledged space dwellers. Looks like the shit is about to hit the fan if/when these things start breaking out of their little test tubes and begin the hunt for some extraterrestrial bloodfeast all their own...

Annunaki
Throne of the Annunaki (2007)

Our jouney ends with a very special and more recent find for me. Not only is this band from New Jersey but they happen to call themselves Annunaki! To those unfamiliar with this term, the story of the Annunaki is as follows.. They were an alleged race of star people who came to the planet Earth from the planet Niburu about 450,000 years ago after colonizing the planet Mars as well. The Annunaki stood 7-9 feet tall and brought great knowledge to the ancient Sumerians of astronomy and architecture among other subjects. it is said that they also mined the planet for gold, one of the most rare metals in the solar system. It was believed that the gold was a key component in shielding their crafts from the intense heat created by entering the atmopshere. These so called "gods", sound like a bunch of cool ass dudes who I'd love to drink Niburuian beers with and spin a few death metal records. Annunaki play a brash version of blackened death metal with heavy thrash overtones. Pretty bad ass stuff and very deserving of such an awesome name.

Thanks (as always) for reading my vomits. And if I overlooked any bands or albums that might have fit in with this post please alert me to my failures.

Horrizon- Time For Revenge (2012)

Horrizon
Time For Revenge (2012)
Genre- Melodic Viking Death Metal

Hey guys, sorry for the extra long hiatus. The last 3+ months have been absolutely fucking awful. But at least the worst now seems to be behind me and it's time that I start moving forward with life. Fear not, I've been listening to a shit load of great music and I have lots to share. No promises on any kind of posting schedule or anything but please bare with me and check in often.

Horrizon is a new act out of Germany and they straight up kicked my ass with their debut release 'Time For Revenge'. A solid offering of frozen melodic death metal fare and punishing, whimsical viking work ethic. Ok no bullshit, this band sounds a lot like Dethklok, and please dont take that the wrong way fanboys, that is an outright compliment right there. I've been in love with this album for about 2 weeks now and I'm pretty sure it has already solidified its spot in my top 10 of 2012.

Also, leave some fucking comments or something so I know you're all still out there and ready for more of my tediously typed and opinionated vomits.

Cerebral Bore - Horrendous Acts of Iniquity [Single]

Cerebral Bore
Horrendous Acts of Iniquity (2012)
Genre- Brutal Technical Death Metal

Fuck yea, I love that they took the sample from the original version of 'Entombed In Butchered Bodies' to start this one off. Its pretty solid shit, the song sounds very similar to the jams on 'Maniacal Miscreation' they definitely didn't stray from the formula too much. I've already been sold on this band for quite some time now, they seem to be a breath of fresh air in the sometimes over crowded brutal death market. Bree bree.

Unleashed- And The Laughter Has Died (1991)

Unleashed
And The Laughter Has Died (1991)
Genre- Death Metal

Honestly, I didn't even know that this little EP even existed before today and I was very glad when I was actually able to find a link to it. Recently, I've been playing the shit out of 'Where No Life Dwells' which was their debut full length and a fucking classic among old school death metal records. Just for the hell of it today I decided to check them out on metal-archives and what do you know? They have even more early material to track down! It was weird though because M-A has this EP listed simply as a 2 song and all the other websites I checked out (including the blog I ultimately downloaded it from) has it down as a 7 song. Anyway, its pretty damn good so you should check it out. Grab your battle axe.

Dark Funeral/Infernal- Under Wings of Hell (2002)

Dark Funeral/Infernal
Under Wings of Hell (2002)
Genre- Blackened Death Metal

I cant think of a black metal split CD I like nearly as much as this one. In fact, there should be more black metal split CDs! New bands, ya gotta get on that! Anyway, if you're not familiar with Dark Funeral or Infernal, they both play a brutal style of black metal with lots of death metal influence. The DF half of the split was actually recorded in 1994 and was originally released as the 'Dark Funeral EP'. Meanwhile the Infernal side was recorded in 1999 and originally released as, you guessed it, the 'Infernal EP'. Both sides fucking kill shit but I've got to give the upper hand to Dark Funeral on this one. Check it out.

Autopsy- All Tomorrow's Funerals (video)

Autopsy
All Tomorrows Funerals (2012)
Genre- Death Metal

These guys have been nonstop the last few years! This is the brand new Autopsy music video for the title track off of the new compilation titled All Tomorrow's Funerals. In addition to a whole mess of EP's and rarities, this release will feature 4 brand new songs. This is one of them and personally, I dont love it... yet, but I'm sure it will grow on me. Either way, as far as I'm concerned, this compilation is as good as pre-ordered already. And you should do the same. You can also download the mp3 version of this song over at RCRDLBL but you have to go through all the sign up and bullshit, which is pretty lame so just make sure to buy this at the end of February guys. Enjoy.

Bolt Thrower- In Battle There Is No Law (1988)

Bolt Thrower
In Battle There Is No Law (1988)
Genre- Death Metal

Very old school death metal from the UK, throwin' a classic at ya today. Bolt Thrower formed in 1986 and are well known for having one of the first female members ever in a death metal band. This is the bands first full length release and they achieved a thick and blistering sound (for the day..). Loads of thrashy overtones going on, constantly melding with ferocious guitar solos with a very large and epic vibe overall.

Abscess/Bonesaw (2008)

Abscess/Bonesaw (2008)
Genre- Death Metal

Picked up this little obscurity over at Vintage Vinyl today. For those who are unaware, Abscess is basically Autopsy after they broke up in 1995. Now that Autopsy are a thing again, poof, there goes Abscess. This is one of their later splits, this time matched with the UK's gore outfit Bonesaw. Both bands kill shit, it was well worth the $3 and 20 minutes.

Imprecation- Ceremony of the Nine Angles (1992)

Imprecation
Ceremony of the Nine Angles (1992)
Genre- Death Metal

Rare and very sick early death metal out of Texas. Unrelenting and aggressive straight forward songs, later releases from Imprecation tend to have more of a blackened edge. Solid grooves alternate with blasts and heavy double bass drum work, fans of early Immolation should really get down. This demo is the bands first and runs for just over 15 mins. A shallow production/rip hinders the 'blast' value here but I still think this is a great listen for old school fans.

Brain Ass- Primordial Uncouth (2011)

Brain Ass
Primordial Uncouth (2011)
Genre- Brutal Death Metal

Dont worry this isn't some joke bullshit bree bree talent lacking slamfest recorded in some jerk off's basement. Brain Ass is from Indonesia and they fucking kill shit with their relentless debut 'Primordial Uncouth'. I definitely overlooked this one at the end of 2011, the punishing sound assaults you by creating thick walls of brutal death metal accompanied by an excellent mid range barking vocalist. I give this one a solid A. If nothing else check it out because one of the dudes in the band has the 'Suffocation' logo tattooed across his chest.

Eulogy- The Essence (1993)

Eulogy
The Essence (1993)
Genre- Experimental Death Metal

Dark and droning, mid paced death metal with a techy edge. Good, creative usage of guest female vocals too, they come across as truly terrifying and never too abrupt. Definitely some outside the box shit here, above average drumming and great artwork too.

Withered Earth- Forgotten Sunrise (1997)

Withered Earth

Forgotten Sunrise (1997)

Genre- Death Metal

Dark and slightly twisted death metal from upstate New York. Experimental through out and very doom driven at times, heavy as all fuckin hell too. Excellent vocals and atmosphere here as well, you'll see what I'm talking about when the clean acoustics appear to ruin your day. I've got an original copy of the Cryptic Productions release in the collection to jam on so thats the cover I posted above, as you can see by the YouTube clip below there is a more popular re-release cover that you may be more familiar with. Either way, both of them suck and dont do this beast of an album any kind of representative justice. This is an often overlooked gem for sure and definitely something worth banging your head to.

Ossuary- Fallen To The Pits (1995)

Ossuary
Fallen to the Pits (1995)
Genre- Death Metal

This is the only release that the band went strictly by 'Ossuary' instead of 'Ossuary Insane'. This is really punishing shit, brutal and technical unleashings all around. Low and evil, sometimes layered and alternating vocals haunt each track, hovering above the assaulting (and way above average) drummer who is absolutely abusing his kit in the best way possible. This is a must for fans of early relentless death metal.

link thanks to DeathMetalEternal

Blood Feast- Kill For Pleasure (1987)

Blood Feast
Kill For Pleasure (1987)
Genre- Death Metal/Thrash

Some pretty good East Coast thrash from the late 80's with solid, but slightly buzzy, production. My buddy became friends with the bands ex vocalist, Gary, by random chance and turned me on to them with a few CD-R's. Nothing really ground breaking here but its still a good healthy does of obscure metal and a damn strong release for their debut.

Incantation- Entrantment of Evil (1990)

Incantation
Entrantment Of Evil (1990)
Genre- Death Metal

Dark, thick walls of death metal aggression. Thrashing overtones, low barking guttural vocals and all the ambiance of a boat ride straight to hell. Just some classic shit from this legendary death metal band. Newer fans may be interested to know that former Incantation vocalist Craig Pillard (Onward To Golgotha, Mortal Throne Of.. etc etc ) is currently fronting the amazingly brutal band Disma. This and all other early Incantation are essential.

Autopsy- Ridden With Disease (2000)

Autopsy
Ridden With Disease (1987/1988)
Genre- Death Metal

I've been listening to so much fucking Autopsy recently. I recently picked up this hard to come by Necroharmonic release to round out the first half of my collection. This here is a compilation of the bands first 2 demos, the 1987 demo and 1988's 'Critical Madness' as well as 2 superb live tracks from 1990. Everything sounds great, fans of the first 2 full lengths (Severed Survival and Mental Funeral) will feel waves of nostalgia throughout these 9 songs when experiencing early versions of a few staple tracks. As you may know, Autopsy is probably one of the best death metal bands ever, and actually they're STILL fucking shit up, with a killer new release as recently as last year. If you're new to the band, definitely check out one of the before mentioned full lengths and then check these demos out. As for current fans, maybe you've just looked over this release by accident.. I'll let it slide this time. Fans should also know that Autopsy is issuing a monster compilation at the end of this month entitled 'All Tomorrow's Funerals' and it will feature ALL of the bands EP's and rarities.

Malicious Hate
Bring Forth Hate (1995)
Genre- Death Metal/Grindcore

This is a god damn blastfest. Bring the bong dude.

thanks to Olivier @ DeathMetalEternal for the hook up
