Depravation- I:PRAEDICTVM (2012)

Depravation
I:PRAEDICTVM (2012)
Genre- Blackenedcore

Got an email from these German lads a few days ago. Its an odd demo for sure but I like the direction they are going in. The cassettes are hand numbered in human blood and limited to 50 copies, thats cool enough for me to support. And actually I had already downloaded this from The Living Doorway before I realized that this same demo was awaiting me in my email haha. Oh well, as always JGD sums it up much better than I ever could, so you can check out his post and excellent blog here.

Dark Funeral/Infernal- Under Wings of Hell (2002)

Dark Funeral/Infernal
Under Wings of Hell (2002)
Genre- Blackened Death Metal

I cant think of a black metal split CD I like nearly as much as this one. In fact, there should be more black metal split CDs! New bands, ya gotta get on that! Anyway, if you're not familiar with Dark Funeral or Infernal, they both play a brutal style of black metal with lots of death metal influence. The DF half of the split was actually recorded in 1994 and was originally released as the 'Dark Funeral EP'. Meanwhile the Infernal side was recorded in 1999 and originally released as, you guessed it, the 'Infernal EP'. Both sides fucking kill shit but I've got to give the upper hand to Dark Funeral on this one. Check it out.

Judas Iscariot- To Embrace The Corpses Bleeding (2002)

Judas Iscariot
To Embrace The Corpses Bleeding (2002)
Genre- Black Metal

Some of my favorite USBM, cold and melodic black metal done with absolutely punishing speed and aggression. A one man project for the most part, 'To Embrace The Corpses Bleeding' is very well produced and features a ruthless session drummer making this album a stand out in the Judas Iscariot discography.

Gates of Ishtar- A Bloodred Path (1996)

Gates of Ishtar
A Bloodred Path (1996)
Genre- Melodic Blackened Death Metal

So, I was going to post the new Abominable Putridity album but I figured shit, if you wanted to check it out you would have gone ahead and done so already. But so you know, the album fucking kills and you should definitely go check it out, then buy it at the end of Febuary. Anyway, Gates of Ishtar is from Sweden and sound nothing like Abominable Putridity. This album 'Bloodred Path' is their debut and its packed with outstanding song writing and delivers a constant head bob to the listener. Elements of death metal, black metal and classic heavy metal come together very nicely here. Check this out, especially fans of Ragnarok.

The Daemon Project (2011 Re-Reissue)

The Daemon Project (2011)
((Re-Reissue w/full artwork))
Genre- Blackened Death Metal

originally posted on 11/13/11

The Daemon Project is a 2 man blackened death metal project based half in the United States and half in South Africa with all work being transfered back and forth over the internet. This link now has a high quality mp3 of 'Excrement of an Angel'. This track originally appeared on the EP in very low quality. Now hear all 4 tracks the way they were supposed to sound.

Update: Both members of The Daemon Project are now living in the United States. Hopefully more music will follow this news. The band has been on a 4 year hiatus.

Wolvhammer- The Obsidian Plains (2011)

Wolvhammer
The Obsidian Plains (2011)
Genre- Death/Black/Doom

A unique blend of blackened death metal and sludge with hints of death & roll and thrash that absolutely hits the mark hard. This 7 song full length from these US experimental metallers will crush the listener many times from beginning to end.

Imposer- Divine Intolerance (2010)

Imposer
Divine Intolerance (2010)
Genre- Blackened Death Metal

Very aggressive blackened death metal from Italy. This short and haunting 4 song is the bands most recent release and contains 2 evil originals and 2 cover songs. I hear influence of Immolation, Behemoth and Krisiun on the heavy. Worth a listen.

Begrime Exemious- Set Ablaze The Kingdom of Abraham (2009)

Begrime Exemious
Set Ablaze The Kingdom of Abraham (2009)
Genre- Blackened Death Metal

Here is more sickeningly dark blackened death metal from Canada. I just heard of these guys recently and I'm very glad I did. This EP is a well produced slab of dirty death metal with blackened overtones. They seem to be delivering a very steady stream of new releases and shit too which is always a plus. 'Set Ablaze The Kingdom of Abraham' touches on lots of distorted and buzzed genres besides the expected death metal fare, from old school thrashing deathgrind to slow and agonizing doom. Begrime Exemios aim to haunt and will absolutely hold the listener by the throat for 20 minutes. If nothing else, download to check out their awesome cover of Autopsy's 'Ridden With Disease'.

Prosanctus Inferi- Red Streams Of Flesh (2011)

Prosanctus Inferi
Red Streams Of Flesh (2011)
Genre- Blackened Death Metal

If you liked my post about the mighty Antediluvian then you should really be able to appreciate this little slab of filthy death metal, I cant put it down. Disgusting production, horrific vocals that dwell through fat, dripping tunnels of raw torturous sound and blasting chaos. Its actually pretty hard to describe how awesome it really is. Gotta give them a shot.

Torture Krypt- Rotted Remnants (1995)

Torture Krypt
Rotted Remnants (1995)
Genre- Death Metal

Rotted Remnants is a gore bath and a pure death metal attack from these New Jersey natives. This is some very brutal and festering shit, kind of in the vein of early Cryptopsy, but no where near as technical. Very throaty, vile, low vocals howl violent hymns of death and violence atop punishing guitar walls of standard death metal fare. The drumming and bass guitar work is well above average and both deserve to be recognized as so. Fucking sick cover art too, just wish I could find a more sharp image to really get into the detail there. This is definitely sick shit, you all should blast this.

Antediluvian- Revelations in Excrement (2011)

Antediluvian
Revelations in Excrement (2011)
Genre- Blackened Death Metal

Sorry its been a while between posts, my internet connection has been shitty at best and I've spent a lot of time being drunk since the beginning of the new year. Been listening to a shit load of new music though, one band I cant stop listening to lately is Antediluvian, their dark, unshowered breed of death metal is very unique, atmospheric and haunting. Low drowned vocals squeeze between thick walls of oozing death metal guitars and a grimy production. This 3 song teaser was released as a 45 rpm early last year about 10 months before they dropped the mammoth 'Through The Cervix of Hawaah' in November. Go grab the hand sanitizer because this shit will leave a pretty nasty stain on the listener.

Averse Sefira- Tetragrammatical Astygmata (2005)

Averse Sefira
Tetragrammatical Astygmata (2005)
Genre- Black Metal

This is definitely some way out there, mythical, punishing black metal from Austin, Texas. Averse Sefira mixes a fast and cold, classic style of black metal with a thrashing/death metal edge before dwelling into the more dark and droning, slower paced slabs of atmospheric chaos occasionally. The vocals stay in the mid to high range yells with some reverberating distortion effects. Certain riffs and the overall production remind me a bit of 1349 on this cd, so there's that. This is a really solid hunk of obscure black metal for ya to chew on for about an hour. Fans of 1349, older Behemoth and Myrkskog will enjoy.

Beyond the Sixth Seal- A Homicide Divine (2001)

Beyond the Sixth Seal
A Homicide Divine (2001)
Genre- Melodic Death Metalcore

A very unique blend of melodic death metal and metalcore with hints at numerous other genres around as well. This one features Adam Wentworth of Premonitions of War and The Red Chord, which is cool. This is a straight blend of melo death and metalcore done very right, they even have a bit of black metal/folk influence about them at times, which is also cool. These tracks have a lot of depth and substance. You guys should give this a shot.

Sorry, 2 posts in a row with no YouTube vid =/

Chthonic- Seediq Bale (2005)

Chthonic
Seediq Bale (2005)
Genre- Melodic Blackened Death Metal

I first found out about Chthonic in 2009 when they dropped the mind blowing 'Mirror of Retribution' on the world of metal. Since then I've been slowly working my way through their entire discography and have been very pleased with the journey thus far. I'm a huge fan of originality and innovation in music, and their use of the Erhu, a traditional Taiwanese instrument stringed instrument, is just fucking incredible. The instrument sounds like a haunting female voice and it lends a very atmospheric and almost theatrical touch to the powerful and dark melo-death/black anthems that rip through this album, their fourth full length. I know the keys and female backings wont be for everyone but I promise you this band is worthy of your time. I bet the live show is sick.

Epoch of Unlight- Within The Night (1995)

Epoch of Unlight
Within The Night... (1995)
Genre- Blackened Death Metal

I couldn't find much information about this album online at all. Epoch of Unlight have been playing melodic death/black metal in Tennessee since 1993, I got into them in 2005 when they released 'The Continuum Hypothesis' and somewhere along the road I picked up this very rare self released EP. Just straight forward blackened death metal here, raw sound with lots of galloping melodic riffage, bass driven grooves, blast beats and harsh black metal vocals. Its a short 4 song EP and very worth the 20 minutes.

Nocturnal Breed- Aggressor (1997)

Nocturnal Breed
Aggressor (1997)
Genre- Blackened Thrash

Norwegian blackened thrash metal? Yes please. This is really awesome stuff, a very dark and purely neck breaking black/thrash fusion album. You should also know that these guys are still creating some really crushing music! Their last album to date was 2007's 'Fields of Rot' and it kicked my ass for sure. Oh, and they use strippers in their live shows. Excellent.

Necroblaspheme- Destination: Nulle Part (2008)

Necroblaspheme
Destination: Nulle Part (2008)
Genre- Death Metal/Blackened

A very cool, original sound from France. Influences of death, black and core with subtle hints at some folky bits throughout. Definitely some experimental stuff I was turned on to by my dude Shitty at Vomit Sounds. Love the cover art concept as well. Check it.

Abysmal Gates- Divine Deception (2004)

Abysmal Gates
Divine Deception (2004)
Genre- Blackened Death Metal

This is a cool one. A dark, ominous sound with a grimy production and some symphonic/keys bullshit thrown in for good measure. I know its hard for any metal band from New Jersey to not throw at least a little hint of 'core' influence into their sound and Abysmal Gates are no exception, no matter how evil and epic they pretend to be. The EP is littered with lots of strange audio samples too which is neat. Also, I'm pretty sure these guys have ties to Abazagorath, which is tight, this here is definitely a winded, dusty and obscure piece of slightly melodic blackened death metal. Enjoy.

Vesania- God The Lux (2005)

Vesania
God The Lux (2005)
Genre- Symphonic Black Metal/Death Metal

Dark symphonic blackened death metal from Poland, featuring Orion of Behemoth on guitar and lead vocals. I first found about these guys when I was on vacation way back in 2006 when I happened to see them perform in Denmark with Cryptopsy and Visceral Bleeding. This is a great full length for black metal fans, especially those fond of Behemoth.
